AIDC: Item Level Identification - Different Benefits, One Solution
AIDC: Item Level Identification - Different Benefits, One Solution Bert Moore Editor Is item level ID more about supply chain security, inventory accuracy, asset management, or financial accountability? Answer: all of the above. The major emphasis on item level identification has focused on the supply chain -- whether it's efficiency in retail or food/pharmaceutical supply safety and traceability. There's no question that this focus is warranted but it shouldn't take attention away from other areas where item level marking can play a critical role in efficiency, safety, traceability and accountability. Whether it's called "item level", "mass serialization", "unique ID" (UID) (see footnote), or "item unique ID" (IUID) it's all the same thing. The ability to uniquely identify an individual item.
