Nordic ID | Australian Airlines Speeds up Routines with RFID
Timeconsuming and personnel intensive stages of the aircraft maintenance processes needed to be optimized in order to reduce the cost of labor and the time spent on routine maintenance. Many mandatory maintenance tasks are to be carried out periodically. For instance life vest data need to be checked every eight weeks. These processes are crucial to the airworthiness of the aircraft and cannot be left undone. Apart from being very timeconsuming, these processes also demand large personnel resources. Reading of partsdata like partnumber and expiry data of a life vest or an oxygen generator takes from three persons 4-6 hours in a small aircraft. Completing these maintenance tasks in larger aircrafts demand even more time.To speed up the routine maintenance work, Austrian wanted to take advantage of the efficiencies that technology offers. They decided to implement RFID. Download the case study to learn more.
